This Month will be a busy time for the Truckersworld Lobby Team; we have now secured a meeting with Theresa Villiers MP(Shadow Secretary of State for Transport) on the 10th December. Now we must work on ensuring we present a professional image and take forward your comments that have been placed on the forum. An agenda is being worked out which will include the CPC, Overnight Secure Lorry Parking, Truck Crime, Cabatage Rules and foreign Drivers and Vehicles to name some of the issues. There is still time if you wish to add anything for this meeting by posting your opinions and views on the forum. At the top of the Agenda for the meeting will be the much talked about Driver “Periodic” CPC we are struggling to find many members or other Industry Personnel that are in favour of this CPC in its present format and so have allowed for drivers to sign a protest against it. Truckersworld are all in favour of more knowledge and learning, better Driving Standards and improved Road Safety, but consider the format for the “Periodic” CPC has not been fully considered or the right people consulted on how to introduce it. Our aim will be to get it thrown out in its present format and for more consultation on a better way to introduce it. If you agree then please sign the Protest form on the main website.
New to our forums is the Introduction of an Insurance Help Line, for the benefit of the members. Priory Insurance Brokers Ltd a reputable firm with 35 years experience will visit the forum on a regular basis to offer help and advice to any members asking questions on it in relation to Insurance matters. Another improvement and service for Truckersworld Members. Thanks to: - http://www.prioryinsurance.co.uk
I was this month hoping to include a report on the debate between Bob Monks and Truckersworld Members after the letters in the Truck & Driver. Unfortunately Bob Monks General Secretary of the URTU refused our offer to join us on the forums for a lively discussion and debate. An open invite and opportunity to talk to you the drivers and tell us what the URTU are doing as the main Drivers Union and possibly to encourage more members to join turned down by not talking to us. Truckersworld is not a Union but we try to represent the voice of the Driver and that is why the forum is so important, it is the contact and communication point between our Lobby Team and you. All your points of view and the issues that concern your working life are on there for debate and discussion then taken forward to key meetings by us. So please visit the forum, have a look and join in the debates, it is to your benefit to join in.
Have you had a look at the New Drivers Club by MAN Truck and Bus Ltd, I would be interested to hear your views on it and whether you intend to join or not. A club is only as good as its membership so let me know your opinion on it. Just e/mail me at: - firstname.lastname@example.org
Next Month will see a full report on our meeting with the Shadow Secretary of State for Transport and any other business or issues, so look back regularly as things can happen quickly. Hope to see you on the forum.
