This month will see Truckersworld becoming more active again in writing to MPs and Government Ministers now they are returning from holiday. On line is a petition that I would hope a lot are signing to ensure we can approach the DfT in keeping our cabatage rules in tact or any fair playing field for UK druckers in dwindling even further. We also intend to contact the Shadow DfT to put forward our proposals and seek their help in getting this Government to listen to our complaints and start acting instead of just talk. Truck Crime continues to rise and with the fuel prices more vehicles are being syphoned for a valuable fuel load. we need more secure parking areas and places we can rest at night without the worry of being attacked or assualted, this Government must act now not in years to come.
Some very hot topics are being discussed and debated on the forum, like the issues of smoking in our cabs and the new CPC which is causing a lot of concern until more detailed information is put in place, the forum is the place for all the help and information required and there is always someone who might have or be able to find the right answer, sometimes a simple question like recently asked about drivers medicals and proving quite a problem getting the right answer.
Plans are now in place for the next Truckersworld Get-Together, this will be an annual event letting drivers meet up for an enjoyable social gathering and evening disco with buffet, bringing about friendship and uniting drivers as working colleagues not just another name on the forum. A second is being planned for later in 2009.
We are also pleased to support the "New" MAN Truck and Bus UK Drivers Club, Take a look using the logo on the left, if you drive a MAN then some very interesting points and big discounts for MAN merchandise, well worth the joining fee for quality goods. Let me know what you think of it on the forum, I will be happy to pass any comments on to MAN. As with any new venture it will take time to get up and runnning, so allow time and look back in at regular intervals.
One of Truckersworld Members and Moderator "ta mac" has put in place an excellent letter which is being sent out to motoring groups and other road user groups around the UK to try and bring support and awareness of our problems, on many occasion we are just another inconvenient lorry on the road with no understanding of our needs. If we can get other road users involved then it might help bring more respect and acknowledgement of our working day. take a look in the forum and offer "ta mac" your support. always a boost to get some acknowledgement to keep on putting the pressure and working for the benefit of all Drivers.
Please take a few minutes to have a look at the interactive forum, many of the group discussions are open for public view but there are also many more only seen by registered members, if you like what you see at first glance then maybe register to become an active part of the truckersworld workings and enjoy the many debates and dicussions on the forum. It is all FREE and takes just 2 minutes to register. hope to see you on there soon??
