The Start of the Truckfest season saw Truckersworld attend Peterborough with a good size stand and somewhere for members to meet up for a drink, A good raffle, plenty of drink and a tug of war ensured the day went well with for once the weather holding out well.
Our Stand and just a few members who attended.
Two Truckersworld members are in the final stages of planning for the next Truckerworld get together in Carlisle, more details are on the forum, come along and join us in a night of entertainment bringing truckers together on a social footing.
May is going to see me making a concerted effort again at getting our Truck Theft Text Alert recognised by the Police as an aid in beating Truck Crime. After reading statements from Truckpol like this: - "quote" Road freight crime is of increasing concern to both law enforcement and industry. Highly organised crime groups are involved and the value of losses continues to escalate as well as instances of violent attacks against drivers. Yet only receiving this information on stolen vehicles, which is of no use with no registration, colour, markings etc "quote" We would like to make you aware that sometime between 4pm on 10 May and 6am on 11 May offenders stole a Volvo artic unit and trailer complete with load of chewing gum worth £20000 from a business on Loxley Road, Wellesbourne. Then clearly something must be done to try and show the villains that it is no longer going to be easy pickings with drivers being alerted to the details of stolen vehicles, and the Police and Drivers working together to ensure more information is passed around. This will hopefully stop the ease of which vehicles can be moved and unloaded without anyone realising it is stolen. Something must be done to stop the increase in stolen vehicles and cargo but also to help protect the drivers involved with truck crime. Crime involves every sector of the Industry with cost totaling well over £1billion last year, we must work together to beat them and reduce crime.
Our text alert is our way in helping by assisting the Police as "eyes on the road" so if you are reading this then if you are a driver why not register to receive the alert and help locate stolen vehicles, and if not a driver themn contact me with offers of help and assistance in making the alert an affordable fight in beating Truck Crime. Our window sticker logo for the alert is also helping reduce it by acting as a deterrent. and every member receives their own ID Card and personnel number (poor photo) Register now on the forum, it cost nothing and could help reduce crime.
