A Statement was received from Extra Motoway Services following our meeting, this will help act as a visual deterrent and talks between us will continue, once again Truckersworld are bringing about improvements by meeting with relative Directors. Statement from Extra: -
“Following on from our meeting on 23 November 2007 where security was highlighted as a major area of concern, Extra Motorway Services are putting Security Huts in their lorry parks to ensure a visible presence in these areas and hopefully deter criminals from the site. The bases are already down and the huts should be arriving and in use by May 2008. The showers, in particular the ceilings, have been thoroughly cleaned at the Extra sites and we have had the doors resurfaced at our Cambridge site. We have put in place a regular cleaning regime but do rely on the users of our facilities to also treat them with respect.”
On the 14th March myself and members of the lobby Team will be travelling to Westminster to meet with government DfT Ministers to present our proposals for Safe and Secure over night Lorry Parking. I have also invited a Representative of the Bar Hill Commercial Association to attend and present a report on beghalf of residents on the problems they face with the lack of overnight facilities. This will assist in backing up our claims that it is a urgent matter that the DfT must act on. More information on our proposal and the way forward is on the forum for all to see.
Final preparations are in place for the first Annual get together of Truckersworld Members, a night of entertainment under one roof and a chance to meet as a group of professionals for a good drink and chat, put a face to a name and also enjoy the live entertainment and disco, plus of course a running buffet with plenty to fill even the hungriest trucker. Never to late to join in and come along to Skeg to have a night of fun, just go to the forum register as a member and then let me know you wish to attend the evening. You will be most Welcome.
Plans are now in place to see Truckersworld at this years Peterborough Truckfest, and although not on the grand scale of 2007 we will have somewhere to meet up for a drink and chat, encourage new members to join us and present ourselves to the trucking fraternity. Come along and say hello.
